- Apex (the bottom point of the heart)
- Aorta
- Superior &/or Inferior vena cava
- Pulmonary veins
- Pulmonary trunk &/or arteries
- Coronary Blood Vessels (on the surface of the heart)
Internal Anatomy:
Once you have made the cuts into the ventricles of the heart locate, takes pictures of and label the following structures from the inside:
- Left & Right Atria and Ventricles
- Septum
- Right & Left AV valves
- Pulmonary semi lunar valve
- Aortic semi lunar valve
- Chordae Tendinae
Answer the following questions about the structures and functions of the heart & post to your blog:
- Compare the structure of the atria and ventricles - how are they different? Why is that?
- Did you notice a difference between the veins and arteries entering and leaving the heart? How is their structure different?
- Describe the valves that you found in the heart - what are their functions?
- What surprised you about dissecting the heart? Why?
